'Hassen worked tirelessly to develop Muslim programmes'

Parliamentarian A.H.M. Azwer issuing a condolence message on the death of SLBC Marketing Unit Director Nooraniya Fouzul Hassen said, 'It is with a deep sense of sorrow I condole the sudden demise of SLBC Marketing Unit Director Nooraniya Fouzul Hassen.

'He met with a fatal accident at Rambawa yesterday morning while travelling to Jaffna with his colleagues on an official assignment.

'He was earlier a popular Director of Muslim Services of SLBC and tirelessly worked for the development of Muslim programmes.

'Identifying his talent SLBC Chairman Hudson Samarasinghe posted him to the Kandy-Udarata Services to improve the programmes in the hill capital.

"Carrying the wasagama Mohandiram Ralahamige Nooraniya Hassen, he was also a Tamil cricket commentator. I had the privilege of releasing the first Tamil book on cricket written by him at the Uyanwatte Muslim Vidyalaya, his hometown when I was the Minister of Muslim Affairs. "When steady progress is being made in all spheres of SLBC programmes and on the day the Chairman has revived the Radio Ceylon programmes to be broadcast to India yesterday. SLBC will be surely missing the services of an able officer of the calibre of Nooraniya Hassen.

May Allah grant him 'Jennathul Firdous.' I also pray for the speedy recovery of his colleagues who were travelling with him and were injured.
