Govt works transparently - Minister Dullas
Ridma DISSANAYAKE
Several countries including Opposition parties of Sri Lanka tried to
portray the country as an isolated state, following the United Nations
Human Right Council (UNHRC) sessions in Geneva. They failed in their
attempts. Sri Lanka is not isolated, all her international friends are
among her supporters, Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Treasurer, Youth
Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Allahapperuma said.
"The government has achieved a large number of development goals and
fulfilled its targets in a transparent manner. No one can criticise its
working procedure. The team of Indian Parliamentarians too appreciated
Sri Lanka's development and resettlement programmes," he said.
"The government is ready to answer any questions posed by the parties
attempting to create a bad image of the country," the minister said.
"Certain sections are trying to involve the international community
to solve the country's internal issues. The Tamil National Alliance (TNA)
is endeavouring to pressurise the country. We urge all responsible
parties to explain the reality to the TNA,"the minister said.
Senior Deputy Chairman of the SLFP and Irrigation and Water Resource
Development Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva also paid tribute to the
Indian delegation at the press conference. |
