Second leadership training programme from today
Dharma SRI ABEYRATNE
The 2012 leadership training programme for university entrants will
commence today, Higher Education Ministry Secretary Sunil Jayanthe
Navaratne said.
The leadership training programme will be carried out at 30 security
forces camps countrywide. Over 20,000 students are qualified to undergo
this programme scheduled to be conducted under two phases. Each phase
will cater to 10,000 students, the secretary added.
This time, the training programme will differ slightly from last
year's programme since several amendments will be giving thought to a
few shortcomings reported at last year's programme.
The Higher Education Ministry has taken steps to restructure the
programme to produce a better leadership training.
Also, the ministry has taken into account ideas of university
students who underwent the first leadership training programme last year
before making amendments to the programme.
The first leadership training for new university entrants was held
last year to enrich university students with leadership qualities and
positive thinking, which would be an advantage for their future
endeavours.
The first leadership training programme was highly appreciated by
both university students and their parents.
Moreover, the senior students and students' unions were also full of
praise for the programme pointing out that the leadership training
programme should have commenced many years ago. |
