Chef Michal Konrad of Fou Zoo at Jetwing Hotels:
Love on a plate
"There is a difference between dining and eating. Dining is an art.
When you eat to get the most out of your meal to please the palate just
as well as to satiate the appetite, which my friend, is dining." Yuan

At Jetwing, a simple question is asked. Why eat?
Many would say that to eat is to sate hunger; however what of
satisfaction? Culinary indulgence is often overlooked, and frowned upon
as well. Jetwing believes different, and seeks gastronomical perfection,
fun and playfulness in every dish through flavour and presentation.
Having identified such as being integral to a visitor's experience
during a stay, they are featuring a world renowned chef to cook up a
veritable storm-for-your-taste buds 7 course dinner at three of their
luxurious properties this April.
Chef Michal Konrad of Slovakia featured his own unique touch to Pan
Asian cuisine at Jetwing Beache and Jetwing Vil Uyana, all members of
the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Hailed as being revolutionary in his ideas and dishes, Chef Michal
boasts a wealth of experience at famed restaurants such as Cocoon,
Kyashii and Chino Latino in London as well as currently being the Head
Chef of Bratislava's Premier Pan Asian restaurant, Fou Zoo.
Fou Zoo is a novel concept, where 'Fou' is the wind - symbolizing
wishes and desires that are floating free, and 'Zoo' means to create,
where life is breathed into all things. Such a concept is widely
praised, with TripAdvisor reviews placing the 84 seater restaurant No.
25 of over 200 others, and many commenting on the exquisite blend of
dishes. In addition, one year after Fou Zoo's opening they received 5
stars in Trend Top Restaurant - the most prestigious restaurant ranking
in Slovakia. In his own words, "(the perfect dish) is like all
ingredients and flavours would make love on the plate".

Chef Michal began his tour of Sri Lanka at Jetwing Beach, Negombo on
April 12 at the exclusive Black Coral, then moved to Jetwing Vil Uyana
on April 16 and he will be making his final appearance in the country in
the culturally rich city of Galle, at Bawa's finest creation Jetwing
Lighthouse on April 21.
"I have known Michal for many years, and his style of cooking is
different, to say the least! The way he looks at the simple act of
eating, and enjoying, as well as his dedication to the perfect mix of
flavor, aroma and presentation makes the whole experience one that is to
be remembered", Jetwing Lighthouse General Manager Robert Claesson said. |
