Rise in Expressway accidents during festive season

Ten accidents were reported on the Southern Expressway during the festive season due to bad weather conditions, the Police said.

Police Media Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana told the Daily News seven persons sustained injuries and the vehicles were damaged in the 10 accidents.

"The number of accidents on the Southern Expressway has seen an increase due to a large number of motorists using the highway during the festive season," the Police Spokesman said.

He advised motorists using the Southern Expressway to maintain speed limits during rainy and foggy conditions.
