New coastal rail track to save travel time

Travel time Between Matara and Colombo will be drastically reduced when the modernized coastal rail track is reopened for rail traffic on April 19, said General Manager of Railways B. A. P. Ariyaratne.

He said arrangements have been made to operate a special inter-city train between Maradana and Matara shortly once the rehabilitated and modernized coastal line is re-opened on April 19.
