Bank card theft
A resident of Balangoda who stole an Automated Teller Machine Card (
ATM card ) and had withdrawn Rs 19,400 using the ATM card was remanded
until April 16 by the Pugoda magistrate.
Kirindiwela Police found that the suspect had also bought goods worth
Rs 77, 942 using the stolen bank card. Police also seized two mobile
phones that he had bought using the bank card. Kirindiwela police are
investigating.
Gold thief arrested
Giribawa Police arrested a suspect who stole a gold bracelet and
necklace worth Rs 125,000 after breaking into a house in Walahaluwa,
Giribawa on February 28. Police seized the bracelet from his possession.
Body found
The body of a man was found hanging from a tree near a stream in
Halwella, Narammala on Tuesday.
Police said the body was in a state of decomposition and appear to be
there for about four weeks.
The body of the man whose identity is not known was sent to
Kurunegala hospital morgue . Narammala police are investigating.
House of ill-fame raided
Three persons including a woman were arrested for running a brothel
in Dehiwala. A car used to transport women was also seized with the
suspects.
The suspects had been engaged in the illegal business on the pretext
of running a holiday resort. They were handed over to Dehiwala police
for legal action.
The Walana, Panadura Central anti vice unit conducted the raid.
