Sangakkara collects double accolade
Kumar Sangakkara has become the first man to be
named simultaneously as Wisden's leading cricketer in the world and
one of its five cricketers of the year. The elegant left-hander
compiled 2,267 international runs in the three formats last year -
no other player broke 2,000 - with five centuries and 13 fifties,
and uniquely reached four figures in both Tests and one-day
internationals for the third time.

Harris and Hilfenhaus swing test back to Aussies
Some fine batting by Ryan Harris and an
electrifying spell of bowling from Ben Hilfenhaus looked to have
turned the first Test with the West Indies in Australia's favour on
an engrossing fourth day here Tuesday.

Defence Services continue winning streak
Defence Services continued their amazing run of
unbeaten streak in the Men's Senior Hockey Nationals when they beat
Matale Hockey Association by two goals to nil to annexe the title
for the 16th successive year in the championship organized by the
Sri Lanka Hockey Federation and played at the Maliyadeva College
grounds, Kurunegala. At half time Defence Services led 1-0.

Sri Lanka to take on India in carrom test series
Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) has
announced the local contingent for the Indo-Sri Lanka Carrom Test
Series which is to be worked off from April 16 to 20 in Sri Lanka.
The tournament will include three test matches which are scheduled
to be played at three different venues in Panadura, Maharagama and
Colombo.
