An extraordinary 15 overs cricket match organised by the National
Youth Services Council and the Youth Parliament between the National
Parliament and the Youth Parliament was grandly held at Maharagama Sri
Lanka Youth Grounds recently.

The National Parliament team recorded victorious defeating the Youth
Parliament by 17 runs.
The man of the match title was secured by the Parliamentarian Namal
Rajapaksa, who scored 59 runs, captured four wickets and two hard
catches.
The captain of the National Parliament team was the Sports Minister
Mahindananda Aluthgamage while a number of Youth Parliament Kusal
Fernando led the Youth Parliament team.
Winning the toss the National Parliament team decided to bat and they
scored 134 runs for 9 wickets. In return the Youth Parliament team was
able to score 117 runs for 8 wickets. The National Parliament team won
the match by 17 runs.
The man of the match was Namal Rajapaksa while the best fielder was
Premalal Gunasekara, the Best Bowler was Mahindananda Aluthgamage and
Youth Parliamentarian S Jayasundara was the best batsman.
The match was umpired by former test cricketer Rawindra Pushpakumara
and the Chairmanirector General of the NYSC Lalith Piyum Perera.
A popular Hindi cinema actor Vivek Obroy and the chief guest of the
occasion former cricket captain and MP for Matara District Sanath
Jayasuirya gave away the trophies and rewards to the winners. |
