‘President placed economy on strong footing’

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has placed the country’s economy on a
strong foundation as never before, said Economic Development
Minister Basil Rajapaksa commenting on the 2011 Central Bank Report

Former Parliamentarians honoured
Over 150 former Parliamentarians representing
all parties of the country was honoured in view of the Sinhala and
Tamil New year at the Speaker’s residence yesterday. Speaking on the
occasion Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said that this ceremony was
organized to recognize the contribution made by them to the country
as public representatives in the legislature Prominent politicians
in the calibre of Daya T. Pasquel, D. R. Rathnayake , Ranjith
Attapattu and Ananda Kularatne representing the Sri Lanka Freedom
Party and the UNP in Parliament from 1956 – '77 were also present.
