A newly built ‘Avasaya’ library and a psychological advisory centre at the Sri Allanmethiniyaramaya were opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday morning. President Rajapaksa on his arrival at the Viharaya participated in religious observances and received blessings from the Maha Sangha led by Ven Thulawala Medhalankara Thera and Ven Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera at the special ‘Pirith Mandapaya’ from which a Seth pirith chanting was conducted for two months to bless the President, country and the people. The new building complex at the viharaya was built under a programme sponsored by devotees of the temple led by two leading philanthropists, said a press release by the President's Media Division. Ven Muruttettuwe Ananda Thera, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa were also present.Here President Rajapaksa participating in religious observances.

Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Sri Lanka Vladimir P. Mikhaylov paid a courtesy call on Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the Economic Development Ministry on Monday.Here Minister Rajapaksa and the Russian ambassador exchanging mementos.
