The government recently embarked on a drive to revamp the country's rail network with the aim of offering a high-end service through public-private partnerships. As part of these efforts, two private firms, Expo Rail and Rajadhani Express, joined hands with Sri Lanka Railways Department to offer luxury train services on key routes. While all stakeholders were focusing on offering an improved service, there was a need for a publication that would serve as a marketing platform as well as a travel by railways guide to local and foreign travelers.

To this end, Ministry of Transport together with Sri Lanka Railways Department have identified the need for a railway magazine to promote railway tourism of Sri Lanka and this idea was supported by Spotlight PR together with Expo Rail and Rajadhani Express to conceptualize and produce a good quality publication that is both visually appealing as well as informative.

Publication covers wide area of Sri Lanka Railways Key routes, Time tables, Luxury services offered, Tour Packages and booking information.

“The launch of this magazine commemorates the public-private sector partnership in developing Sri Lanka's rail network ... we expect an improved rail system to also significantly contribute toward growth in tourism,” noted General Manager Sri Lanka Railways B.A.P. Ariyarathna.

“We are very excited to be a part of this project, which is the first in the country. We believe the “Sri Lanka by Rail” magazine will be well-received by local and foreign travelers alike, and will encourage travel by rail,” said Farill Farook, Managing Director of Spotlight PR.

Spotlight PR plans to publish Sri Lanka by Rail magazine bi-annually with the support of Sri Lanka Railways and Sri Lanka's Ministry of Transport.

Spotlight PR was established in 2007 as a partnership company specializing in Advertising and Public Relations. Today, the company has diversified into four key areas; PR & Advertising, Publishing, Event Management, and Internet/Viral Marketing.
