One dies, three injured in accident

An elderly woman died and another three were seriously injured in a three wheeler - private bus collision at the second rail crossing on Nawalapitiya- Gampola main road on Tuesday.

The three wheeler was heading to Gampola when it collided with the oncoming private bus. Four persons were admitted to the Nawalapitiya hospital and later transferred to the Kandy hospital due in a critical condition.

Seventy four year old Podi Manike of Pallegama succumbed to her injuries at the Kandy hospital. Nawalapitiya police arrested the private bus driver. Investigations are continuing.
