Outline for a sustainable and efficient economy which can be built by the public sector in collaboration with the private sector has been incorporated in the Mahinda Chinthana, North Central Province Governor Karunaratne Divulgane said.

Governor Divulgane was speaking at a ceremony at Anuradhapura Heritage Hotel to felicitate outstanding entrepreneurs in the Anuradhapura District.

The governor who presented the awards said that commerce is the bridge that connects industries to agriculture. Development should be planned on that paradigm. Anuradhapura had been in the forefront in commercial transactions in ancient times evidenced by archaeological excavations.

"In accordance with the Mahinda Chinthanaya, our endeavour is to uplift private business ventures. The biggest milk producer in Asia is India. They do not import a single packet of milk. We also have to follow this example," the governor said.
