Investigations during March 16 to 24:

Explosives recovered from North and East

Army personnel have recovered a haul of explosives from the Northern and Eastern Provinces after conducting several investigations in some areas from March 16 to 24.

According to the Army sources, they have searched Thirukethishwaram, Marathodai, Mahakachchikodiya, Kumarapuram, Palamoddai, Kannadi, Nunawil, Thunukkai, Suthanthipuram, Palampiddi, Marandamadu, Dewapuram, Pulmudai, Karappakutti, Irattaperiyakullam, Siina Adampan, Gajabapura, Kalyanapura, Elephant Pass, Priyamadu, Vilaweththiyakullam, Wellankullam and Kumburumulla areas in the North and East provinces.

Explosives recovered are 1922 anti personnel bombs, 30 hand grenades, one 30 mm mortar bomb, two 120 mm mortar bombs, one 82 mm mortar bomb, three 81mm mortar bombs, eighteen 60 mm mortar bombs, one pressure bomb, four anti-tanker bombs, three bombs, five RPG bombs, one smoke bomb, one 40mm mortar bomb, one local weapon, five TNT explosives, 40 gelignite sticks and 200 anti- personnel bomb fuses.
