Two luxury buses to ply from Avissawella to Matara

Two super luxury Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses will be deployed from Avissawella to Matara through the Southern Expressway starting next week.

SLTB Chairman Shashi Welgama, said that this bus service would commence following requests made by passengers for a new bus service from Avissawella to Matara on the Southern Expressway.

He said that the SLTB had already conducted trial runs on two super luxury buses from Avissawella to Matara under the patronage of Transport Minister Kumara Welgama recently, which had been a success.

Two buses starting at 5.00 am from Avissawella and Matara will run four times a day, he said. A passenger would have to pay a sum of Rs 795 at the beginning of their journey Avissawella (entry point) to Matara (exit point).

The buses have been equipped with all facilities and safety measures, while the number of buses would be increased according to the needs of the commuters, he said.
