Man nabbed with pun kalasa

A man was arrested with a valuable marble pot in his possession. The pot known as a pun kalasa, is said to be of archeological value. The arrest was made at Henwalayagama in Kibissa, Sigiriya on Monday.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had kept the marble pot to sell at a high price. Police said the pot is four inches in height, 17 inches in diametre and weighs over four kgs. The suspect produced before the Dambulla magistrate was remanded until April 9.
