Lightning claims three of same family

Three persons of the same family died when lightning struck them at Amithirigala in Awissawella yesterday evening amidst inclement weather conditions. The incident occurred around 4 pm during heavy rain when a woman and her 12 year son and the woman's sister were in the kitchen at their home. The dead have been identified as M K D P Rajapaksa, R M C I Ranasinghe and M K S Prasanthika.

The three bodies are kept in Awissawella hospital morgue for the post mortem to conducted today. Awissawella police are investigating.
