Two die in fatal crash

A police constable and a man died while a woman and a girl were seriously injured in a three wheeler - bus collision at Aggrahara Junction, Weeraketiya on Monday.

M A Nandasiri, a resident of Hakuruwela died on admission to Weeraketiya Hospital. Constable Sunil Rajapaksa attached to Ambalantota police station, driver of the trishaw died at Matara hospital.

The critically injured woman and the girl are receiving treatment at Matara hospital.

Skeletal remains found

Deraniyagala police found a human skeleton in a rubber estate at Udapola, Deraniyagala.

Investigations revealed that it was of A Sivakumar of Udapola who had been reported missing.

The victim's father identified the skeletal remains as that of his son from the teeth. He said his son had been missing for nearly a month.

The Police said Sivakumar was mentally restarted and an epileptic patient.

Avissawella magistrate ordered the judicial medical officer of Avissawella hospital to carry out the post mortem.

Deraniyagala Police are investigating.

Arrested with cannabis

A person in possession of two kgs of cannabis was arrested by Polonnaruwa anti - vice officers at Dalukona junction, Aralaganwila on Monday.

The suspect, a resident of Hambegamuwa was handed over to Polonnaruwa Police for further investigations.

Singer stabbed to death

A viridu singer was stabbed to death at the Matara bus station yesterday. The Police identified the victim as P Dissanayaka of Kotuwegoda, Matara.

The Police arrested a suspect. Matara Police are investigating.

Passenger run over by bus

A man receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital after he was run over by a private bus when he slipped from the foot board, died after 12 days.The victim, K D Chandrasiri is a resident of Galle.

Police arrested the driver and produced him before the Galle magistrate yesterday.
