Attorney assaulted for defending the accused

Attorney-At-Law Sumith Silva, who defended the two suspects in the murder of two Buddhist monks at the Kotte Rajamaha Viharaya, had been severely assaulted by a group of people in the Gangodawila Magistrate’s Courts premises yesterday.

Three remanded for alleged murder of woman

Three suspects who had allegedly killed a 69 - year - old woman after raping her, were remanded until March 28 by Horana magistrate Mahinda Ranasinghe. The victim, a mother of three, was a resident of Palpitigoda, Poruwedanda. The suspects aged 32, 55 and 58 are also residents of Palpitigoda.

Alleged attempt to kill SI: three released on bail

Three suspects who had allegedly tried to kill a Sub Inspector by stabbing and also robbed his service handgun, were released on bail by Horana magistrate Mahinda Ranasinghe. Ingiriya Police arrested the two suspects.
