Shopper arrested for robbing cash

A youth from Eravur Batticaloa has been arrested by people and handed over to the Jaffna Police for stealing Rs 100,000 from the table of the cashier of a computer shop at Stanley Road Jaffna.

The suspect had bought a computer part from the shop for Rs 4,000 and stealthily pocketed the cash that was on the table of the cashier. The cashier became aware of the loss only after the youth had left the shop. The employees of the shop ran in search of the youth and caught him near the Bank of Ceylon at Stanley Road. They searched him and found the missing cash in his pocket.
