| Thousands of people in the Jaffna
peninsula staged a massive demonstration condemning the US
moves against Sri Lanka at the 19th United Nations Human
Rights Commission session recently. They said that Sri
Lankans irrespective of their ethnic differences are living
in peace in the aftermath of a 30 year conflict and
condemned US and Western moves to meddle with the country’s
internal affairs. |

Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee
Chairman of Pakistan General Khalid Shameem Wynne
called on Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Somathilake
Dissanayake at the Naval Headquarters yesterday. He is on a
five-day official visit in Sri Lanka. They held discussions
on matters of mutual interest and bilateral importance.

| Senior Minister for Good Governance
and Infrastructure Facilities Ratnasiri Wickramanayake and
Culture and Arts Minister T B Ekanayake at the opening of
the new cultural centre at Ingiriya set up under the Culture
and Arts Ministry’s programme of setting up a cultural
centre in each divisional secretariat division recently.
Parliamentarian Vidura Wickramanayaka and Culture and Arts
