Matale CC record eighth outright win

A devastating medium pace bowling by Srimal Senanayake who had a match haul of 8 for 87 spearhead ed Matale Cricket Club to eight wicket win over Moratuwa Sports Club in their P Sara Trophy Cricket Tournament match concluded at Bernard Aluwihare Stadium, Matale yesterday.

Srimal Senanayake took 6 for 34 off seven overs to skittle out Moratuwa Sports Club for 85 in the first innings.

Moratuwa SC fared a little better in the second innings to total 172 helped by former national cricketer Niroshan Bandaratilleke who made 63 with one six and five fours.

Left-arm medium pacer Mohamed Hashim took 4 for 33 while off-spinner S Ranjan polished off the tail taking 3 for 1 for Matale CC.

Moratuwa SC: 85 all out in 21.2 overs (Chameesh Fernando 29, Anushka Perera 19, Srimal Senanayake 6 for 34, Asanka Totagamuwa 3 for 19). And 172 all out in 29.3 overs (Niroshan Bandaratilleke 63, Chaminda Mudalige 19, Chalindu Sellapperuma 13, Srimal Senanayake 2 for 53, Mohamed Hashim 4 for 33, S Ranjan 3 for 1).

Matale CC: 220 all out in 45.5 overs (Eranga Silva 50, Srimal Senanayake 47, Amila Rukshantha 41, Asanka Thotagamuwa 40, Chamindu Mudalige 5 for 77, Niroshan Bandaratilleke 2 for 55, S Perera 2 for 50). And 38 for 2 in 8.1 overs (Amila Ruskshantha 12).
