Woman who died at hospital identified

A woman who died at the Horana Hospital on March 9 was identified as Ranwatheege Karalina, 69, a resident of Mawak Oya, Palpitigoda and a mother of three.

The report regarding this woman was published in the Daily News on March 10.

Ingiriya Police found the woman fallen on the road near Palpitigoda Lake and admitted her to Ingiriya Hospital and later transferred her to Horana Hospital where she died.

Panadura Base Hospital forensic medical officer S Subramaniam said the woman had been raped and she had been hit on her head with a blunt tool.

Ingiriya Police thanked the Daily News for publishing the report. They said this helped them to carry out the investigations.
