US has ulterior motives, says thera

The motive of the US in bringing the resolution against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC sessions in Geneva is to acquire the oil rich Mannar basin in Sri Lanka and appoint a leader who can dance according to the whims and fancies of the imperialists, Ruhunu Rata Bhikshu Peramuna General Secretary Ven Omare Kassapa Thera said.

Ven Omare Kassapa Thera addressing a media briefing in Colombo last week, said that the US and several Western countries need an issue to meddle in Sri Lanka's internal affairs and this was the reason to move the resolution at the UNHRC.

“Sri Lanka is in the path to speedy development. All people live together in peace and harmony. People of the Northern and Eastern Provinces are happy today with the way issues are being handled by the government,” he said.

The thera said that the proposed resolution would bring disharmony among communities in Sri Lanka.

Sri Sughatha Bhikshu Peramuna president Ven Urumuththe Sugathananda Thera said the ulterior motives of the external forces will not be allowed to be implemented in Sri Lanka. Sinhala Rawaya Organisation secretary Ven Madhille Pannaloka Thera also participated.
