Holcim Lanka Ltd CEO Stefan Huber said, at a media briefing on Geo-cycle
Awards 2012 recently at the Colombo Cricket Club.
He said that the evaluation of industries for “Geo Responsibility
Awards 2012” is underway by a panel of experts including Prof Ajith De
Alwis and Dr Ananda Mallawathanthri. The GRA award is an annual event
which marks the Geo-cycle Day to recognise the exceptional efforts by
public and private organizations in the environmentally responsible
waste management process.
Geo-cycle-Holcim Lanka General Manager Asela Iddawela said that for
the first time there will be a after view action after the awards
ceremony where companies will be given a paper to submit proposals for
further improvement to waste management systems.
Therefore Holcim has decided to have this ceremony every other year
in the future.
Business Development Manager Randeewa Lalasooriya said that Geo-cycle
will raise awareness and encourage professional waste management among
all industrialists in Sri Lanka.
He said the GRA awards ceremony was held last year to popularise
sustainable waste management among the industrial community.
