| A series of Bodhi Poojas were
organised islandwide on Wednesday by the Defence Ministry to
invoke blessings on President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the
government. Chief incumbent of Gangarama Ven Galaboda
Gnanissara Thera conducted the pooja. Prime Minister
Minister D M Jayaratne, Commander of the 14th Brigade,
Brigadier R S P Dissanayaka and several officers
participated. Meanwhile, a Bodhi Pooja was held at Visumpaya
to bless the country. |

The Vanni 561 Brigade donated 16
artificial limbs among disabled villagers and dry rations in
Periyakulam, Vavuniya. The donation was organised under the
direction of Vanni Commander Major General A K S Perera
while Centre for Handicapped sponsored the donated items
which cost around Rs 1.5 million. Here, Major General Perera
