Staging her dream into reality

D M Sajini Dulanjali is a seven year old talented little dancer, vocalist and actress hailing from a rural village called Miugunagama in Mahiyangana. She has showed her inborn talents for singing and dancing from her childhood.

She has a natural talent for creating new versions of existing Kandyan dancing styles as well as low country and western dancing and an ability to sing from a very young age.

She does not rest on her laurels and works hard to improve her talents and skills.

Sajini, a student of Mahiyangana National School has become a popular dancer in her school, Mahiyangana area and the entire Uva Province. However, due to many difficulties such as finding a professional dancing trainer in the Mahiyangana area, she has been unable to receive a professional training. So, the determined young girl has learned to sing and dance on her own.

Today she has succeeded in creating an amazing impact on the young and old alike through her dancing technique, whereby music and bodily expressions are transformed into vital actions which always attract the audience.

She had given many solo recitals at village and provincial levels and has received many accolades. She has become a big hit with the audience receiving standing ovations from audience for her super performances.

She has become famous for her creative performances and is frequently invited to perform at festivals, musical shows and concerts organized by nurseries, schools, village and provincial level events in Mahiyanganaya and the Uva Province.

Sajini has become an expert in the up country, low country, western and traditional dancing items in Sri Lanka.

Apart from the inborn talent, Sajini's outstanding dancing ability also attributes to her diligence and perseverance as she practices singing and dancing every day. To further equip herself with real stage experience, she took part in numerous performances before and got encouraging results.

actress and Queen of the Sinhala Cinema Parliamentarian Malini Fonseka at the annual concert of Sirisagabo Per-School at the Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya recently.

To pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a well-known dancer, vocalist and actress, she has devoted herself solely to practices.

Her slick dance moves and strong will to succeed will surely help fulfill her dream of becoming a well-known performer nationally and internationally.

Sajini has taken part in many singing competitions at provincial and national levels and has won first place on many occasions. She has also been awarded many scholarships for her excellence in performance on many occasions.

She continues to strive for opportunities to become an actress. In 2010, she was selected to play the child character in a film named Sihina Maliga.

She has been selected to play the lead role in a children film named Doni Amaya produced by Keerthi Bandara which will be screened this year.

She is destined to gain fame as a dancer, her father Saliya Dissanayake who is an hotelier said. Her Mother Geeetha Sanjeewani who is the tower of strength behind her excellent performance said that she is very happy with her daughter's achievements.

Little Sajini who is the great pride for the Uva Province is looking forward to reaching greater heights and becoming a shining star in her home country.
