The ‘Our Journey’ Apey Gamana residential workshop for United
People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) parliamentarians and constituent party
leaders which commenced on Saturday under the patronage of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa continued for the second day at the Diyatalawa
Military Academy yesterday.
The theme of the first session of the second day was “Sri Lanka’s
national security in the past, today and tomorrow”.
The post war experiences of the humanitarian operation to eliminate
terrorism and international network of the LTTE were discussed during
this session. The need to safeguard culture and independence when
pursuing national development was also emphasized at this session.
Lengthy discussions were also held as to how to face the external
influences at a time when the country is heading towards rapid
development after the elimination of terrorism. All ministers and UPFA
parliamentarians, except those who are abroad or are ill, participated
in this workshop. |
