The ‘Our Journey’ Apey Gamana residential workshop for United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) parliamentarians and constituent party leaders which commenced on Saturday under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa continued for the second day at the Diyatalawa Military Academy yesterday.

The theme of the first session of the second day was “Sri Lanka’s national security in the past, today and tomorrow”.

The post war experiences of the humanitarian operation to eliminate terrorism and international network of the LTTE were discussed during this session. The need to safeguard culture and independence when pursuing national development was also emphasized at this session.

Lengthy discussions were also held as to how to face the external influences at a time when the country is heading towards rapid development after the elimination of terrorism. All ministers and UPFA parliamentarians, except those who are abroad or are ill, participated in this workshop.
