Peterites take major honours in drawn match

St.Peter’s College recorded a first innings win over S Thomas College
Mount Lavinia in their under 19 inter school match which concluded at
Mount Lavinia yesterday with the match ending at 4 pm due to rain.
Peterites scored 326 for eight (declared) in their first innings which
gave them a first innings lead of 146 runs. Left hander Ali Khan scored
35 runs while Right hander Dushan Hemantha helped St Peter’s College
with 34 runs. Right arm leg spinner Madushan Ravichandrakumar (five for
69) and Rishane Mathangaweera (three for 58) were the most impressives
of the Thomian bowlers.
In their second inning, Thomians were 164 for eight. Left hander
Sachin Peiris was the only batsman to avert Peterite bowling pressure
with 64 runs inclusive of nine boundaries.Right arm leg spinner Dushan
Hemantha bagged five for 55 while right arm fast bowler Ramitha
Liyanaarachchi captured three for 17
