China backs efforts by AL to resolve the conflict

A top Chinese official and US Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton held "frank and in-depth" talks on Syria by
telephone Monday as Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping began a visit
to the United States. China and Russia have faced a barrage of
international criticism this month for blocking a UN Security
Council resolution condemning the bloody crackdown on protesters in
the Middle East country.

Israel diplomat attack by ‘well-trained’ operative - India
A bomb blast that badly wounded an Israeli
diplomat in New Delhi was a terrorist attack by a highly-trained
operative, the Indian government said Yesterday, as Israel accused
Iran of being responsible. The injured female diplomat was described
by doctors as stable after overnight surgery to remove shrapnel from
her spine after the attack, in which a motorcyclist planted a
suspected magnetic bomb on her car.
