Necklace thief nabbed

Meerigama Police arrested a man who snatched a necklace worth Rs 50,000 from a woman at Mugurugampola on Monday.

The suspect on a motorcycle threatened the woman before snatching her necklace, the Police said. The Police arrested the man and found the necklace in his possession.

Man attacked by elephant dies

A man attacked by an elephant died after being admitted to the Kurunegala Base Hospital on Monday. W M Samankumara of Nahettikulama in Galgamuwa was attacked by the elephant at the Mawanayaya paddy field on Sunday. Galgamuwa Police are investigating.

Burglar arrested

A man was arrested for breaking into a house at Ponnagan, Kilinochchi. and stealing Rs 110,000 and other goods. Police also seized the stolen goods and money .

Body found

The body of a man around 35 to 40 years was found by the Police at Galle Face on Monday. The body is that of a bearded person and fair in complexion. Colombo Fort Police are investigating.
