Kataragama suicide jacket: suspect arrested

The CID arrested the main suspect in connection with a suicide jacket found at a pilgrims' rest in Kataragama on January 31. The suspect was nabbed in Galle on Sunday.

Police said that the suspect is a resident of Badulla and was a member of the LTTE.

The suspect, who impersonated as a Muslim, entered the hotel in 2007 and hid the suicide jacket in a store room at the Pilgrims' Rest, the Police said.

Police said that there was no evidence that the suicide jacket was used after the humanitarian operation.
