Two suspects remanded

Two men who allegedly stole jewellery and valuables after threatening residents in a house in Handapangoda, Bandarawatta were remanded until February 22 by Horana magistrate Mahinda Ranasingha. The suspects are residents of Hingurakgoda and Handapangoda. The police also seized the stolen jewellery worth Rs 230,000 from a pawning centre in Homagama.

Ingiriya Police arrested one person on suspicion. When questioning the suspect, the Police found a pawning receipt in his possession. Upon interrogation, he had informed the Police about the robbery. The suspect had told the Police that four people had been involved in the robbery and two were Army personnel. Police arrested the Army Corporal. The other suspects are absconding.

Ingiriya Police are investigating.
