Gama Neguma one project per village programme:
Work to begin next month
Development work under the Gama Neguma 2012 one project for each
village programme will be launched next month, said Economic Development
Minister Basil Rajapaksa. He said project proposals are now being
entertained from the 14,000 Grama Niladhari Divisions countrywide and
the ministry has already allocated Rs 14,000 million for the entire
programme.
Minister Rajapaksa said this presiding over a progress review meeting
of the Colombo District project coming under this overall programme held
at the Colombo District Secretariat on Saturday. Projects submitted by
representatives of local councils were discussed and approved at this
meeting, said a press release by the Economic Development Ministry.
The ministry has allocated Rs 557 million for projects covering the
557 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the 13 Divisional Secretariat (DS)
Divisions in the Colombo District. The DS Divisions are Maharagama,
Thimbirigasyaya, Moratuwa, Ratmalana, Kesbewa, Kotte, Kaduwela,
Avissawella, Colombo, Homagama, Padukka, Dehiwela and Kolonnawa.
Senior Minister A H M Fowzie, Ministers Dinesh Gunawardena, Jeevan
Kumaratunga, Champika Ranawaka, Gamini Lokuge, Susil Premajayantha and
Wimal Weerawansa, Parliamentarians Thilanga Sumathipala and Prabha
Ganeshan, representatives of local councils and other officials attended
the meeting.
