A'pura development to continue

Although the Deyata Kirula Development Exhibition has been concluded
development activities launched concurrently in the Anuradhapura
district will continue unabated, Telecommunication and Information
Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said. The minister said Rs
21,000 million had been allocated for development activities launched in
the district alongside the exhibition.
The money was being utilized to improve economic, social and cultural
standards of the people.
Programmes such as Divi Neguma and Gama Neguma had launched a
parallel programme to uplift family units.
Programmes targetting low income families were launched to encourage
non school going children to attend school and find employment for
unemployed youth.
Steps have been taken under the Jana Sevana programme to build houses
for the needy and provide roofing tiles to people who have thatched
roofs.
The irrigation, electricity and water supply sectors have also
received a boost on account of the Deyata Kirula exhibition.
In essence the Deyata Kirula has brought overall development to the
entire Anuradhapura district, the Minister added.
