Disagreeable conduct - Dinesh
Priyanka KURUGALA
It is disagreeable to see the US trying to force the Sri Lankan
government to implement the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and
Reconciliation Commission report, when the government has already taken
the necessary steps to do exactly that step by step, Chief Government
Whip and Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardana said.

The country is now free of terrorism.
‘The people in the North are being turned into a democratic society.
However, without knowing the facts, US is pressurising Sri Lanka.
It is the duty of the US to support Sri Lanka if it truly considers
Sri Lanka as their friend, he said.
As a country that is against terrorism, the US has to admire Sri
Lanka for defeating terrorism that raged for 30 years in the country. By
now nearly 290,000 persons have returned to their villages. Therefore,
the US plan to support a resolution against Sri Lanka at the Human
Rights Council is astonishing, he said.
Speaking to the Daily News, Jathika Hela Urumaya Leader Ven Omalpe
Sobhitha Thera said, at a time when international forces are bent on
undermining Sri Lanka’s progress after defeating terrorism it is the
bounden-duty of the people to support and safeguard the government which
had restored peace in the country.
Defeating the LTTE which was considered the most ruthless terrorist
organization in the world by a small country like Sri Lanka, without any
support is a shame and headache to the Western countries as well as US
and Norway.
Due to that reason US Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia
Robert Blake had said that, they are not supporting Sri Lanka at the
Geneva Human Rights Council, the Thera said. They were unable to control
or defeat the Taliban for nine years.
It is a challenge for them that we defeated the LTTE. Therefore they
are trying to destroy our victory, the Thera said.
