Stolen marble statue recovered

A priceless marble statue stolen from the Sri Gunaratana Piriven Viharaya in Nawalapitiya recently was recovered from Tantirimale, Anuradhapura by Nawalapitiya Police that arrested three suspects in this connection on Sunday.

Police said the statue weighing 50 kilograms was robbed several months ago by a gang which had broken into the Viharaya's Budhu Medura. Police said among the suspects arrested is a person who has disrobed recently.

Investigations are continuing directed by Senior DIG H N B Ambanpola and SSP Roshan Fernando.
