SSC tame Chilaw Marians

 

A five wicket haul by Vishwa Fernando (5/62) and equally supported by Upul Indrasiri (3/92) helped Bloomfield C and AC to restrict Ragama SC to 290 all out to record an outright win of 142 runs in the Inter-Club Premier League Tier ‘A’ match continued at Bloomfield grounds yesterday.

Ragama SC who started the third day at 39 for 2 found it difficult to escape from their opponent bowlers’ wicket hunting except for Sameera de Zoysa who scored 128 off 138 balls which did not prevent their defeat.

Bloomfield C and AC 315 and 308 for 7 declared. Ragama CC 191 all out and 290 all out in the second innings (Sameera de Zoysa 128, Vishwa Fernando 5 for 62, Upul Indrasisri 3 for 92)

Win by whisker

Baduraliya SC managed to gain a first innings victory of three runs over Moors SC who were 299 all out on the second day in another encounter of Premier League Tier A three day match played at Surrey grounds yesterday.

Baduraliya were 308 for 9 on the final day, yesterday where opener Hans Fernando ( 95 ) and T M Sampath ( 79 ) made valuable contributions. Himesh Silva ( 4 for 48 ) gave some resistance to Baduraliya batsmen.

Badureliya SC: 302 (T.N. Sampath 53, I.Illeperuma 67, Malinga Bandara 39 n.o, S.H.M. Silva 3 for 72, Dinuk Hettiarachchi 5 for 102) and 308 for 9 ( Hans Fernando 95, T M Sampath 79, Himesh Silva 4 for 48 )

Moors: SC 299 all out ( Shehan Jayasuriya 51, Bathiya Perera 82, Illeperuma 4 for 65 )

Vibrant Chopra

Varun Chopra with a magnificent 192 and Kithruwan Vithanage with a valuable ( 98 ) runs helped Tamil Union C and AC to total up 414 all out to defeat NCC in the first innings in another battle of the same tournament at NCC on the same day.

Chopra’s 192 came in 238 balls with 15 boundaries and 5 sixes while Kithruwan spared 115 balls who hammered 4 sixes and 7 fours to get his 98. NCC in their second innings were 303 for 7 at close of play. Chamara Kapugedara ( 114 ) and Angelo Perera ( 121 ) put up a good partnership of 196 runs for the fifth wicket.

NCC: 315 all out and 303 for 7 ( Chamara Kapugedara 114, Angelo Perera 121, Sachiththra Serasinghe 3 for 72 )

Tamil Union: 414 all out (V Chopra 192, K Vithanage 98, Sohan Boralessa 5 for 104, Imesh Udayanga 4 for 46 )

SSC in command

Kaushal Silva ( 141 ) and Geeth Alwis (100 ) who helped SSC to reach 542 for 7 to overcome Chilaw Marians in the first innings who put up 425 all out.

Opener Tharanga Paranawithana (93) and no 7 batsman Kaushal Lokuarachchi (77 ) secured their descent score at SSC grounds yesterday.

SSC continued from day two where they were 275 for 2 at close of play. Chilaw Marians were 103 for 4 at the conclusion of the third day yesterday. Chaminida Bandara ( 2 for 16 ) sent Amal Athulathmudali back to pavilion for 39.

Chilaw Marians: 425 all out and 103 for 4 ( Amal Athulathmudali 39,Umesh Karunaratne 28, Chaminda Bandara 2 for 16)

SSC: 542 for 7 dec. (Tharanga Paranavithana 93, Kaushal Silva 141, Geeth Alwis 100 Tharanga Paranawithana 93 , Kaushal Lokuarachchi 77, Thilina Kandamby 74, Umesh Karunaratne 3 for 102 ).
