Petrol price revision
The prices of several petroleum products have been increased with
effect from February 11 midnight, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC)
said in a release.
"Although the prices of petroleum products in the international
market are continuously increased, the government has not increased
domestic prices of petroleum products similarly and has absorbed huge
losses and offered products at heavily subsidized prices to the public
and industrial sectors," the CPC said.
"Therefore, we are compelled to increase the prices of the following
petroleum products with effect from February 11 midnight to mitigate the
losses borne by the corporation to date," the release added. Lanka
Petrol 90 Octane sold at Rs 137 per litre has been revised to Rs 149,
Lanka Petrol 95 Octane from Rs 155 to Rs 167, Lanka Auto Diesel from Rs
84 to Rs 115, Lanka Super Diesel from Rs 106.30 to Rs 142, Lanka
kerosene from Rs 71 to Rs 106, Lanka Industrial Kerosene from Rs 76 to
Rs 111, Lanka Furnace Oil from 800 Sec from Rs 52.20 to Rs 92.20, Lanka
Furnace Oil 1500 Sec from Rs 50 to Rs 90, Lanka Furnace Oil 3500 Sec
from Rs 50 to Rs 90. The prices of the following petroleum products have
been revised to the Ceylon Electricity Board and Independent Power
Producers (IPP). Lanka Furnace Oil (High Sulpher -1500 sec and 3500 sec
Rs 65 per litre, Lanka Furnace Oil (Low Sulpher) - 1500 Sec Rs 75 and
Naphtha Rs 90
"Even though, we increased the prices of petroleum products to the
public and industrial sectors, the government still absorbs a
considerable loss on petroleum products and continues to keep the above
subsidized prices to reduce the impacts on national economy," the CPC
said.
Outstation spot selling prices of petroleum products have also been
revised, the release added.
