Prisoner with heroin detected

Bogambara prison officials detected a prisoner serving a murder sentence with 43 packets of heroin in his possession.

This heroin was detected by jailor D. Hemajith, overseer Nimal Karunaratne and guard Palitha Bandara.

The stock of unadulterated heroin was found concealed in the prisoner's trouser pocket. The heroin is believed to have been received from outside. The prisoner was operating the heroin racket from inside the prison, it is disclosed.

The special inspections were carried out under the guidance of Central Province Senior Deputy DIG H N B Ambanwala on the direction of Senior Prisons Director Tissa Jayasinghe.
