Lithmina Mahanama of Wesley College, Colombo who clinched a double
crown by winning under-12 and under-15 singles titles, was adjudged the
Most Outstanding Player at the inaugural Doubles Event Table Tennis
Championship which concluded at the Lalith Athulathmudali College Indoor
Stadium, Mt. Lavinia recently. The two-day event’s first day matches
were worked off at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium, Mt. Lavinia.
The tournament has been conducted by the Ping Pong Academy with the
assistance of the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL). The
all-island tournament’s age category events included players from
International Schools, Private Schools and Semi Government Schools as
well. The tournament has been sponsored by the ANC Education Limited.
Lithmina along with Githmi De Silva of Musaeus College, Colombo and
Daham Peiris of Trinity College Kandy who became the under-18 girls’ and
boys’ champions respectively received ANC Education Ltd Challenge
Trophies from the closing day’s chief guest Gishan Sumanasiri, ANC
Education Ltd. AGM Degree Completion Program. Nalin Athula, a former
table tennis player of St. Anthony’s College, Kandy was the chief guest
on the first day and distributed the awards. Ping Pong Academy President
P. I. Sandarath and TTASL Vice President Chandana Perera were also
present at the award ceremony.
