Kegalu Vidyalaya gained a first innings win over Asoka Vidyalaya in
their schools Under-19 cricket tournament match concluded at the Public
Grounds, Kegalle yesterday.
Highlight of the match was the good all-round performance of
Bimshendra Ranaweera for Kegalu Vidyalaya who captured a match bag of 8
for 132 and also top scored with a neat 65 which had 10 fours. He put on
95 for the first with Lahiru Perera who made 53 with 6 fours and 2
sixes.
Asoka Vidyalaya trailing behind on first innings by 136 runs scored
216 for 9 declared leaving their opponents an impossible victory target
of 80 in just two overs. Surprisingly Kegalu Vidyalaya took up this
challenge and were reeling at 7 for 3 in 2 overs.
