Benedictines hit back

St. Benedict's College, were 136 in 60.2 overs in their under 19 inter-school cricket encounter against S. Thomas College, when rain interrupted the first day's play at Mt. Lavinia yesterday. S. Thomas won the toss and chose to field.

Abdul Manaz, right hander batsman of St. Benedict's College scored 29 runs including three boundaries well supported by Dilan Anjelo who also scored 26 inclusive of three boundaries. M. Ravichandrakumar captured four wickets for 31 while Dilan Fernando bagged two wickets for 36.

S. Thomas were reeling at 64 for 5 at the end of the match. Chamod Pathirana scored 25 (not out) inclusive of two boundaries. Sachin Peiris grabbed three wickets for 21 while Jason Perera captured two wickets for 28.

St. Benedict's 136 (Jason Perera 21, Dilan Anjelo 26, Abdul Manaz 29,Sachin Peiris 19 (not out), Dilan Fernando two for 36, M. Ravichandrakumar four for 41).

S. Thomas 64 for 5 (Chamod Pathirana 25 n.o., Sachin Peiris three for 21, Jason Perera two for 28).
