Shameera props up Joes

St. Joseph's College were 131 for 7 in 51.1 overs in their under 19 inter schools cricket match against Wesley College when the rain interrupted the first day's play which started at Darley Road yesterday.

Wesleyites won the toss and chose to field. Right hander Shameera Samarawickrama contributed 53 runs including six boundaries. Left hander Vidusha Jayasinghe scored 24 runs.

Jonathan Kudiramanpulle bagged two wickets for 18 while off spinner Ashail Kariyawasam took two for 29 and left arm spinner Sachin Jayawardana took two for 25.

The match will resume today 9.30 am.
