Rajans shot out for 113

Rain turned out to be a big foiler in the schools under 19 cricket tournament match between Trinity College and Dharmaraja College which began at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy yesterday. Trinitians won the toss and put the Rajans to bat. Rajans batting failed and at lunch time they were 81 for 6 and were dismissed for 113 after batting for 61 overs.

Off spinner Janishka Premasinghe continued his form with the ball to capture 3 for 9 while the two medium pacers Alwin Fernando 3 for 34 and Amrith Srimahan 2 for 27 bowled well.

Trinity College in their turn at the wickets started disastrously losing two early wickets and lost a third one with the scoreboard reading 26 for 3 after batting for 8 overs. Skipper Niroshan Dickwella made 16 of the 26 runs scored, and left arm spinner Arvinda Withanarachchi bowled with a lot of guile to take 3 for 8.

Dharmaraja College 113 all out in 61.1 overs (Newan Karunaratne 29, Kavinda Ratnayake 20 not out, Deneth Lanka 21, Amrith SriMahan 2 for 27, Alwin Fernando 3 for 34, Janishka Premasinghe 3 for 9).

Trinity College 26 for 3 in 8 overs (Niroshan Dickwella 16, Arvinda Withanarachchi 3 for 8).
