More Indian fishermen rescued

Sri Lanka Navy personnel rescued four Indian fishermen with their fishing vessel in the North Thalaimannar seas on January 5 and handed them over to the Thalaimannar Police,Sri Lanka Navy Media Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasooriya told the Daily News.

These fishermen were found onboard the fishing trawler which was stranded in mid sea owing to a mechanical failure.

All four Indian fishermen were brought ashore safely by the Navy personnel. The Indian fishing trawler bearing registration number TN/10/MFB/ 380 which was rescued by the Navy is anchored off Thalaimannar, the Commander added.

The SL Navy received an Indian Salvage Team at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the seas of North-West Delft on January 4. Nine fishing trawlers with 35 Indian fishermen on board had run aground due to bad weather conditions when cyclone “Thane” struck.
