Minister orders probe on 31st night party

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena has ordered Health Ministry Secretary Dr. Ravindra Ruberu to conduct an immediate investigation into the 31st night party held at The Polonnaruwa Hospital, Health Ministry media coordinator W.M.D. Vanninayake said.

The party had been organized by the hospital's Welfare Society. A hall in the hospital had been used for the party throughout the night, violating rules and regulations, Vanninayake said.

The `party' had disturbed patients and the neighbourhood. The participants, including hospital authorities who had taken liquor, inconvenienced patients and residents. An investigation will be conducted by the Ministry Secretary on Minister Sirisena's instructions, he added.
