Vidyartha gains lead

Vidyartha College, Kandy has gained first innings lead over St Anne’s College which began at the Welagedera Stadium, Kurunegala yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 am.

It was the all-round performance of Tilina Rupasena which helped Vidhartha College to hold the edge over their opponents. He took 4 for 18 with his off spinners. He was supported by medium pacer Isuru Weerasinghe who took 5 for 58.

When Vidhartha College batted it was Tilina Rupasena who batted with aggression to score 86 with 4 sixes and 10 fours and 4 sixes off only 60 balls. Earlier Ravindu Dissanayake scored 67 with 10 fours off 78 deliveries.

Vidyartha College having gained a first innings lead of 137 have put the Annites to bat again and have scored 32 for 2 at close.

St Anne’s College: 118 all out in 31.4 overs (Vikum Dharshana 40, Isuru Weerasinghe 5 for 58, Tilina Rupasena 4 for 18) and 32 for 2 in 8 overs (Isuru Weerasinghe 2 for 14).

Vidyartha Collge: 255 for 9 decl (Niluksha Galapitige 26, Ravindra Dissanayake 67, Kasun Navaratne 36, Tilina Rupasena 86, B Kurasinghe 3 for 51, M Wickremage 3 for 32).


Imasha scores 107

St. Sebestians College, Moratuwa were 113 for 8 at the end of day one in reply to St. Joseph’s College total of 262 runs at Darley Road, Colombo.

Winning the toss Joes piled up 262 runs helped by a superb century by Imasha Jayasinghe who scored 107 runs including 18 fours and a six.

Priyamal Perera was unbeaten on 41 runs with Amila Aponso claiming 4 for 68 for the visitors.

Avishka Fernando top scored for Sebs with 38 runs.

St. Joseph’s College - 262 (Imasha Jayasinghe 107, Sadeera Samarawickrama 31, Priyamal Perera 41 n.o., Amila Aponso 4/68, Sachintha Gunawardena 3/42, Sanika de Mel 2/42).

St. Sebestians College - 113/8 (Avishka Fernando 38, Anuk Fernando 26, Yashan Samarasinghe 2/29).


Half tons by Supun and Milan

Royal College Colombo played against St. Anthony’s College Kandy at Reid Avenue yesterday.

St Anthony’s College bowled out the Royalists for 290 in 65.4 overs. Supun Subasinghe scored 64 runs while Milan Abeysekara scored 59. Saranga Rajaguru captured three for 85 while Charles Praveen took two for 47 for the visitors.

Anthonians were 96/6 at close. The match will resumed today at 9.30 .
