A forest fire broke out yesterday evening in the Wewaltalawa pine forest reserve near the Ginigathhena town in the Ambagamuwa Divisional Secretariat area.

Nuwara Eliya Disaster Management Centre Assistant Director Erandana Hemawardana said Army and STF personnel were called to put outthe fire with the assistance of Forest Department officers in the area. The extent of the damage was yet to be estimated, said Hemawardana.
